The Mumbai Regional Office (MRO) of the Reserve Bank of India was established in 1935. MRO is the largest regional office of the Reserve Bank and also serves as the Secretariat of the Western Area Local Board whose jurisdiction extends to the States of Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.  It is the nodal office for Western Grid Bankers' clearing house and the jurisdiction of the western zone for payment and settlement systems. The RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement System) and NEFT (National Electronic Funds Transfer) operations are conducted through Mumbai Regional Office.

The principal Jurisdiction of MRO is the State of Maharashtra and Goa.
